Olympic Village Inn at Squaw Valley -

Squaw Valley,  CA

This is an incredible resort.  It is such beautiful architecture, and such nice grounds.  Like all my favorite resrts, it is REALLY close to Squaw, in fact you can see the Squaw ski area in the background of some of the pictures.

From the resort website:

"A delightful mixture of Tyrolian charm and new world luxury is readily apparent upon entering your suite. The traditional flavor of the imported wall coverings, old-world stenciling and eiderdown comforters are perfectly complemented by a Euro-kitchenette with modern appliances and cookware.

Thick terry robes, hand painted floral tiles and a tub complete with massage shower create a bathroom suite that could only be found in the finest of vacation resorts. A complete entertainment system, DVDs in all living rooms and TVs in all bedrooms, individual temperature controls, two phones and high speed internet connection (small charge with usage) add thoughtful touches which allow you to completely relax.

This one-bedroom suites sleep four with a queen-size bed in the bedroom and a queen-size sofabed in the living room

Only a 5 minute walk, or complimentary ski shuttle, to the base of Squaw Valley!!!!

Squaw Valley Ski Area

This is an incredible resort right in Olympic Valley at Squaw.  The unit is a couple hundred yards from the tram and main ski lifts to Squaw Valley Ski resort.  You could walk, though I'd take the convenient shuttle that runs frequently between the resort and Squaw.  This resort has EVERYTHING you could want..

The pictures below were taken when I was at the resort in December 2007.

Olympic Village in just built a BRAND new clubhouse this year (2007) and at the picture on the left, you can see the building to the right of the pool and hot tub.  These next few pictures are are from inside that clubhouse, that is available for guest use.

Each of the units has a small kitchenette, but if you want to do a little more serious cooking, you can use the guest kitchen above,  or the outdoor gas grills in the pool area outside the new recreation room.

Adjacent to the kitchen is a beautiful guest lounge, with multiple tables available, and board games for loan.  Upstairs there is an electronic game room for the kids with a sitting area and TWO big screen plasma TVs.

Right behind the game room, is a new workout room with two treadmills, a bike, and elliptical machine and a full weight system.

I own a Kitzbuel unit and photos of an example of this type of room is below. You enter through a beautiful spacious bedroom with a queen size bed, bureau and TV.

You then proceed through the vanity area into the living area.  Somehow I forgot to get a picture of the couch, but there is a NEW sleeper sofa that they assured me was incredibly comfortable, in fact they say many guests prefer it to the bed (though I'd find that hard to believe).  I did look at it and instead of netting and bars, it is made out of nylon straps, it did look good. These sleeper sofas were made special for this resort!

There is a small kitchenette with granite countertop, small refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and stovetop, the only thing not there is an oven, and you can always use the guest kitchen if you need to.  There is also a wall entertainment system hiding a TV, DVD and stereo, a small dining table.

Also not pictured is the private deck looking over the pool and garden.
